President's Foreword 2026

The President’s Science and Technology Awards (PSTA) honour scientists and engineers whose work has pushed boundaries and made a significant difference to Singapore and beyond. In doing so, they also inspire many others to reimagine what is possible.

The awards affirm something else too: that research finds its ultimate value not in the laboratory, but in the impact it creates in industry and society. This year’s recipients reflect that impact in varied dimensions – from pioneering molecular carbon systems in quantum applications to using digital standards to transform maritime bunkering, to integrating policy and technology to address complex national challenges. Our young scientists are likewise breaking new ground, such as in using AI in precision medicine and scaling next-generation solar technologies for sustainable energy. 

My warmest congratulations to each of this year’s recipients. I look forward to seeing each of them, and those who follow, grow the public good even further in the years ahead.
